"If I Was A Leeds Fan I'd Be Embarrassed"

Alan Tate hits out at the league's handling of the Leeds United fiasco

The are we champions - aren't we champions saga took another twist yesterday when the League confirmed that the trophy would not be present at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday even taking into account the mathematical possibility that the Swans could be crowned champions.

It means that a big crowd at the Liberty will not be treated to the sight of the Swans celebrating what seems to be a near certain league title and that the trophy will be presented after the announcement of the arbitration hearing.

And that has frustrated Swans vice captain Alan Tate who told the Evening Post "It's disappointing because we would have liked it to happen in front of our own fans

"But we can't do anything about it and we'll just have to get on with things.

"Our main aim this weekend is a better performance after Yeovil, because everyone apart from Leon Britton and Darren Pratley performed a bit sluggishly on the back of the celebrations at Gillingham.

"As far as we're concerned, we've won the title,

"It's a surprise to me that they have even been allowed to appeal, and it's ridiculous that it's still going on when it should have been put to bed at the start of the season.

"They should have been given the fine and told that was that, but they probably thought 'We're Leeds, we'll get away with it'.

"They're trying to be the big club they were a few years ago. They are a big club, but they need to realise they are in League One.

"It's embarrassing that it's still dragging on now and if I was a Leeds fan I'd be embarrassed about it."
