Papers Report Gurney Going Back To Swindon

Gurney Returning To Swindon?

The Western Daily Press is reporting that Andy Gurney's spell at Swansea could end with a move back to former club Swindon Town.

Gurney has been out of favour at the Swans for around six months and is yet to feature in the first team this term. The paper reports that a source close to Swansea is suggesting that Gurney's return to the County Ground will also see Swansea paying part of his wages.

Gurney left Swindon for South Wales in the early stages of last season amid many rumours around Swindon. He immediately staked his claim for a first team place at Swansea but soon fell foul of the North Bank boo boys amid more rumours - this time of a dressing room bust up with team-mates.

The full report in the paper reads as follows

Former Swindon Town captain Andy Gurney could be poised for a dramatic return to the club. The Bristolian left Swindon at the start of last season in a surprise move to Swansea City, but has since fallen out of favour at the Welsh club. Sources close to Swansea have suggested Gurney, 31, is set to return to the County Ground with City paying part of his wages.Town boss Andy King, who was unavailable for comment yesterday, is known to be looking for another centre-back and a combative midfielder. Gurney can play at right-back, centre-back and in midfield and King has always been a vocal admirer of Gurney's aggressive playing style. Gurney, whose former clubs include Bristol Rovers, Torquay and Reading, was also unavailable for comment yesterday.
