Monk Reflects On Two Points Dropped

Garry Monk was reflecting on two points dropped after the 0-0 stalemate with Brighton on Saturday and warned that the Swans must try harder in coming games if they are to achieve the promotion aim.

In a game of few clear goal chances, Ferrie Bodde's low drive that rebounded back off the post was the best chance the Swans had whilst Brighton also hit the woodwork whilst Doris pulled off a point blank save during the first half.

A disappointed Monk told the Western Mail after the game "It was two points dropped and we want to win every game, especially at home we go out there to win every game but it doesn't work that way.

"We got a clean sheet and we are pleased with certain aspects of the game but we want to win. We're not over the moon but we're not devastated because we picked up another point.

"It's not as if we aren't trying but sometimes things don't go to plan.

"First half we were below par but second half I think we did enough to come away with three points. Collectively we knew we had to go out there in the second half and give a performance. We got the performance but we just couldn't get the goal.

"We've played alright so far but as a whole we need to do it for 90 minutes. It's slowly coming together though.

"We have put expectations on ourselves because we have done so well and we have to live with it. If you put pressure on yourselves then you have to deal with it.

"You can sense the pressure from the crowd and it doesn't effect me at all, I think it can get to some of the younger players, though.

"But it's part and parcel of the game and if people want to react like that then we have to deal with it as professionals."
