Roberto Martinez will go back to Liverpool to try and secure another of their young stars after missing out on Paul Anderson

That is the view anyway of the Western Mail who report today that Martinez will approach Liverpool about Adam Hammill who he believes could have a similar impact this season as Ando did last time around.

Competition for Hamill will be fierce though with the paper reporting that Wolves, Charlton, Preston and Aberdeen are all interested in securing the services of the player who spent last season on loan in the Championship at Southampton.

Hammill played 28 times for the Saints last season - 25 of those appearances in the league - as they battled successfully against relegation to League One and Roberto now sees the ex England youth star as the man who can provide the same outlet as Anderson did last season.

The name of Hammill was linked at the start of this month but it was always Anderson that was top of the Swans list but having seen him move to a Championship rival, the Swans will always look elsewhere and you always knew that Roberto would not go into anything without having a Plan B.

The official Liverpool site has this to say about Hammill "Winger Adam Hammill is a product of the Academy who is currently on loan at Southampton.

The Scouser was part of the 2006 Youth Cup winning team, scoring a sensational goal from the halfway line in the early rounds.

He was promoted to Melwood in February 2006, though has yet to play a competitive game for the first team.

Hammill spent the second half of the 2006-07 campaign at Dunfermline in the Scottish Premier League.

He became a firm fans' favourite at East End Park, scoring one goal in 18 appearances and playing in the Scottish Cup final against Celtic.

The left-sider, who has represented England Under 19s, joined Southampton on a season-long loan in July 2007. "
