Top scorer Jason Scotland goes into battle at Sheffield United today dreaming of a place in the Premier League

The Swansea City striker has an outside chance of completing his first season at this level with a golden boot although it would take some run of scoring - and his first Swans hat-trick at least - to secure that feat.

However, with 21 league goals to his credit as the Swans contemplate a Top 8 finish, he knows his dream remains very much alive as the interest starts to show from those already in the promised land in his services.

A detailed article in the Trinidad and Tobago Express highlights Scotland's desire to play at that level when he said "To be playing in Old Trafford and the Emirates and Stamford Bridge I want to test myself against the best.

"It is really tense (at the club) these days, we have to depend on other teams' results as well as doing our own business. If we win the other two games we have a chance."

The article also suggests that Scotland is ready to cash in on some money over an 'alleged' bet between himself, Kenwyne Jones and Stern John over who would score the most goals this season.  Scotland is well clear on that front and with a stake of £1,000 it does appear that he may be cashing in his winnings soon.

It's never been all plain sailing for Scotland though he had a work permit denied back in his Dundee United days that almost appeared to have ended his playing days on these shores "I felt physically sick and upset, I can't even describe how depressed. I was devastated and it took hours to soak in. I even called back (my agent) Mike (Berry) to find out if he was joking."

But since then he has pretty much not looked back and last year was named as T&T footballer of the year, an award which he clearly treasures "It is something I will always cherish, that is my top award so far.

"I know I need to score more goals with the chances I get, even if I just play for 15 or 20 minutes, but, at the same time, I don't think I am getting enough chances to play for the national team. I am 30 now so if I am not getting the chance now when will I get it?

"He (Trinidad coach Russell Latapy) has been out here and around for some time so the experience he has will do us well. Everybody is looking forward to our next game and hopefully we can get three points and kick forward from there."
