Alan Tate has rubbished newspaper talk of a move to Bramall Lane

The Swansea City vice captain wasted no time to dismiss the rumours in the Evening Post that linked him with Sheffield United as part of the deal that could see Gary Speed come to Swansea as manager.

Tate was not leaving the decision in any doubt when he told the same newspaper "There's no chance of me going

"I don't know a lot about the rumours and it was a surprise to me when I heard them.

"But however serious they were, the fact is that it's not for me.

"I don't want to go to Sheffield United and I don't want to go anywhere else, even if it would mean a pay rise.

"I have seen people move on for bigger money at another club, and I could probably get bigger money at Sheffield United.

"But the money doesn't interest me.

"I've seen other players leave for more money and it hasn't made them happy. They have ended up wanting to come back to Swansea.

"I am very happy both on and off the pitch at Swansea and, even if someone offered me £5,000 or £6,000 a week more, I wouldn't go."

Tongue in cheek then Tate talked about the new job and how it may even come down to him tp apply...

"It's dragging on a bit, with people apparently turning us down for whatever reason," he added. "That's up to them, but it should be an attractive job.

"Whether these people have had a sniff of a job somewhere else I don't know, but I'm not bothered about waiting for a manager.

"Maybe I should stick my CV in myself!"
