Huw Jenkins has talked up the chances of Brendan Rodgers as next Swansea manager

The Swansea City Chairman was not leaving much to the imagination on his thoughts on former Watford and Reading manager Reading.

Rodgers has emerged as the bookies favourite although Jenkins was also still referring to Gary Speed and Nigel Adkins in his interview but it does seem to be the name of Rodgers that maybe ticks the boxes of the club in their search to replace Paulo Sousa.

Speaking to the Evening Post, Jenkins said “When you are looking for people who are comfortable playing football our way, which is essential for us, Brendan Rodgers is someone who comes to mind

“He was highly thought of at Chelsea, he did a good job at Watford and then things didn’t go as he would have liked them to at Reading for a variety of reasons. But he is somebody we have talked about from day one because of his footballing beliefs. There would be no point in us going for a manager who does not share our beliefs because when pressure builds or results go wrong, even if certain games aren’t going well, managers will quickly revert to what they believe in.“We have been refused permission to talk to Gary (Speed) for a second time and there is no update from there

“That’s where we stand at the moment, but I would not say that is definitely the end of that. Until we appoint someone, we will be waiting on certain things. We are continuing to work on the same things we worked on from day one, they have not changed, and we will not stop until we have exhausted every avenue.”And finally on the subject of Adkins, “He is another one we have mentioned because of how well he has done“Even when Scunthorpe were relegated from the Championship, he brought them back up, and now they have stayed at this level on a low budget through hard work. He is a possible, definitely.”
