Angel Rangel has had quite a week after the birth of his son on Monday evening

The Swansea City defender revealed the name of his son - Angel Noah Rangel - the 8th in a line of Angel's in his family - a tradition that he hopes his own son may be able to continue in years to come.

Speaking to the Evening Post about his new arrival, Rangel said "It has been a fantastic week

"It's been quite stressful — we were in hospital, of course, and my parents and my sister have been over.

"I think you always need a few days to settle down with a new baby, but we are settled now and I am ready for our game at Reading.

"He has the same name as me because in my family we have had seven generations of Angel Rangels," he explains.

"I was the last and my dad told me to call my son whatever I wanted to call him, but I didn't want to break the tradition.

"With my partner, we decided to call him Angel with the middle name of Noah.

"He is the eighth Angel Rangel and maybe in the future he can keep the tradition going with a ninth.

"But I will call him Angelet, which means little Angel. That will help us not to get confused around the house.

"First of all we have to see if he wants to play football at all," Rangel stresses.

"But if he does and he is a great player, he can play for Spain. If he is not so good, he can always play for Wales!

"My life has changed a lot," he concedes. "I am very settled in Swansea and now I have a little boy from Wales.

"My girlfriend doesn't speak much Spanish and, at the moment, my future is in the UK. Maybe I will spend my whole life here, I don't know, but at the moment we are happy and we are enjoying this great moment.

"We were off on Monday, so I haven't even missed a training session," he says.

"And I have had enough sleep. The baby has been great so far — he only wakes up once in the night wanting some food and then he goes straight back to sleep.

"I am ready for Reading. Of course, as soon as I come off I will be on the phone finding out how the baby is, but while I am on the pitch I will concentrate on my football.

"As with everything, when you work you need to be 100 per cent and when you are with the family you need to be 100 per cent.

"It was nice for the manager to show that faith in me," Rangel added when asked about his return against Derby in the last game. "He wants me to go forward whenever I can, and that's great because that's what I want to do.

"Hopefully I can stay fit now and help the team get as high as possible in the table.

"We know the manager will want to do well

"He wanted us to do well against Watford and it will be the same this weekend.

"It's a very difficult place to go, but we have an extra motivation because of the manager, and three points would set us up very nicely for the two home games next week."
