Hall’s well that ends well?
Hall’s well that ends well?

Ryan Hall is likely to be moving out of Elland Road on as soon as the window for loan deals has opened.

Sky Sports claims that a number of Championship and League One sides are understood to have enquired about signing Hall on a temporary basis, but it hasn’t managed to name who they are.
Hall has yet to play for the first team this season and he is thought to be interested in a move away in search of regular first-team football.

Despite the lack of detail in Sky’s report, a loan move would make sense for both the club and the player, as he clearly doesn’t feature in Brian McDermott’s plans. If a winger can’t get a game when the manager complains that his side is ‘lacking width’, then it’s clear that the boss doesn’t rate him.
What would be more surprising would be if any Championship club did come in for Hall, as he is yet to show that he can cut it at this level.

Hall was of course signed by Neil Warnock, initially on loan last October, with the move being made permanent during the January transfer window. Even at the time it seemed a bit of a strange move, as if the player was out of favour at Southend, how could we expect him to stand out in a higher division?

McDermott is now trying to sign Birmingham’s Chris Burke on loan, having failed to land the winger during the transfer window, so hopefully the wages saved by offloading Hall will free sufficient funds for him to sign Burke at the second attempt.
