Leeds lose Smith appeal Tuesday, 14th Jan 2014 21:44 Leeds maintained their losing streak but this time it was the appeal against Matt Smith's red-card against Sheffield Wednesday that fell short. Smith lasted barely a minute as a second half sub when he received a straight red-card for an alleged elbow on Reda Johnson, 10-man Leeds going on to lose 6-0. Dissapointed boss Brian McDermott told lufc.com : “I can’t understand why it wasn’t overturned. “I’m sure they will have their reasons, but there was no intent. He’s gone in, in a fair way, he bumped into the player, and he went down easy. “I don’t believe the fracas afterwards was helpful with players from Sheffield Wednesday running a long way to get involved. I’m very disappointed with the outcome.” Smith will sit out our next three matches all at home against Leicester, Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday. Maybe this will spur Leeds on to making a further signing in the transfer window with interest in Adam Le Fondre of Reading apparently resurfacing again.
