Bookmakers React To FA Cup Draw
Sunday, 26th Jan 2014 19:49

As soon as the FA Cup 5th round draw was completed today there was always going to be a change in the bookmaker odds given that Manchester City had drawn Chelsea and Arsenal were pitted against Liverpool.

With this meaning that at least two of the top four sides in the Premier League would fail to make the quarter finals there were some quick moves in the odds market to reflect the draw.

Manchester City remain the competition favourites at 3/1 but Arsenal were instilled as second favourites at 9/2. Interestingly for Swans fans, Everton were moved into third favourite position at 5/1 with the Swans odds lengthening from 28/1 to 33/1 after they were handed an away tie at Goodison Park to contend with.

The odds on the Swans were matched for Cardiff who drew holders Wigan at home and both Chelsea and Liverpool found themselves at longer odds almost immediately after the draw at 6/1 and 7/1 respectively.

Southampton, Hull and Sunderland all find themselves at shorter odds than the Swans which will be reflective of their tie rather than individual ability of a team.

The Swans odds started at 40/1 before the third round draw but they were available to back at 50/1 before they went to Old Trafford at the start of the month. Those odds tumbled when they drew Birmingham but clearly extended today. Expect however if they were to put out Everton those odds to drop to 20/1 or shorter so if you really do fancy us to record a first ever win over the Toffees then back us now as I don't suspect the odds will get as long again.
