Value in win from behind market — betting
Friday, 25th Apr 2014 20:00 by Andy Hillman

LFW’s resident betting pundit Andy Hillman returns to look ahead to QPR’s home fixture with Millwall and a weekend of sporting action.

Like QPR approaching the end of any season, my form continues to remain patchy at best, with a single win last week out — QPR’s fairly late and probably undeserved win against Watford. Liverpool and Suarez made hard work of Norwich, and Chelsea hilariously lost at home against Sunderland to scupper my bets.

NAP: Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen - Oppose Bayern Munich @ 4/1

Bit of an odd choice for this one, but hear me out — Bayern have already won the league at an absolute canter. They put their cues on the Bundesliga rack weeks ago, and have started pissballing around a bit in the league to pass the time. They play against Real Madrid on Tuesday, having to overcome a 1-0 deficit, and will therefore look to rest key players. 4/1 for Bremen to at least draw, seems like a very good value bet indeed against a weaker Bayern side.

QPR related bet: QPR to win from behind @ 10/1

So I looked at the obvious markets for my QPR bet — QPR to win at Evens, Austin to score anytime at not much better than that, both teams to score, all the usual gubbins, and then I decided to go a little crazy — a little Al Pacino shouty-loud crazy (best six minutes ever by the way...) and plumped for this 10/1 beauty — QPR to win from behind. QPR struggle to get going at the best of times, and sort of amble around directionless, confused as to whom is actually playing in which position until half time. Millwall, on a good run, and with Shittu, Holloway and Bircham returning to the Loft could easily capitalise on the disarray and score first, before we sort our lives out around the 70 minute mark as per usual. 10/1 on that happening is humongous odds.

Post-Moyes Bounce: Man Utd vs Norwich — Man United to win to nil @ 6/4

We all know that ultimately it was United’s home form that really spelled the end of Moyes’ brief tenure at Old Trafford, but even a Moyes led Man Utd side would be able to see off Norwich, who gave it all against Liverpool, but are ultimately, totally fucked. Giggs first game in charge and he’ll look to bring some sort of feel good attitude back to Old Trafford, so expect them to lay siege to the Norwich goal. Norwich, despite scoring twice at Anfield, are far and away the worst side in the division away from home, having lost their last seven in a row, and scoring failing to score in half of their away games. A United win to nil at 6/4 seems almost too good to be true.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Match — Liverpool to Win & BTTS @ 21/10

I don’t think for a second that Mourinho is writing this game off as much as he says he is in the press — Mourinho’s ‘mind games’ are as transparent as a Harry Redknapp team selection the week before a January transfer window. He’ll rotate players, obviously, but if you’re expecting the average age of his starting line-up to be 12 you’re sorely mistaken — suspensions and ineligibility in the CL means that he’ll be starting an experienced side, and he won’t be coming here expecting a hiding. I still think that Liverpool will win — although with the best attack in the league going against the best defence in the league it will probably be by the odd goal as opposed to a large margin of victory.

Champions League Double: Bayern & Chelsea @ 3/1

Both Bayern and Chelsea will be reasonably pleased with their results in Madrid this week — Chelsea’s turgid draw against Atletico means that any home win will be enough to see them through, and Real’s profligacy in front of goal means that Bayern have only got a single goal deficit to overcome — not that tough an ask when at full strength and at home — Dortmund put two past them in Germany in the last round. Nearly 3/1 on both Bayern and Chelsea to win in 90 minutes looks like quite a nice double, which might ease the pain of seeing Chelsea in another Champions League final and Mourinho’s tiresome kneeslide when they score.
