Koeman Linked With Holland Job

You didn't need to be a rocket scientist to predict that sooner or later Ronald Koeman would be linked with the Dutch team manager's job.

With Saints great start to the season and the Dutch national teams poor start to the Euro qualifying campaign it was only going to be a matter of tome before Ronald Koeman's name was going to be linked with the job and already the Dutch media is calling for Gus Hiddink to be replaced.

At 67 Hiddink is seen as being too old and set in his ways for the task of running an International side and Koeman's great great start at Saints has pushed his name to the fore.

Koeman was touted for the job prior to joining Saints but was passes over due to being considered too outspoken, but now with their international team in disarray the Dutch FA are being rumoured to be considering Hiddink's position and that is not what Saints fans want to hear.

Of course it would interest any manager to run his countries side but hopefully Koeman will feel he has a job to do here and that he is on a hiding to nothing if he takes on the role at this present time.

That is what Saints fans will hope anyway with Koeman shaping up to be one of the best Saints manager's not only in recent times but if he stays of all time, such is the start he has made at St Mary's

Butty101 added 08:58 - Oct 15 Calm down Nick, Shaping up to be the best manager of all time... Really?? Its only 7 games into the season and he has had a gentle introduction to premier league life. The two quality teams we have played have both beat us. If this was Mopo you would be calling him a flat track bully.

SaintNick added 10:25 - Oct 15 No I wouldn't I am taking things overall not just results but the way he has come into a very difficult situation and rebuilt the squad and united the club , he has played a big part this summer , perhaps I am being a little forward but he has shown already that he is more than the one trick pony our previous manager was

Makes me wonder if this may have been a bit of forward thinking. RK has his brother and Sammy lee in the wings at Southampton, perhaps he feels if he can get another trusted pair of assistances withing the Dutch set up he could toggle between the two jobs. Tall ask when you take into consideration the expectations on both job's, from the employers and fans alike. Could it be done??
For the record my hope is the Dutch side find their feet under Gus and Ronald is left alone to do the job for us. Looking forward to a good win at the weekend COYR.

Rednose - The Dutch KNVB will want a full time manager, there's no way Koeman could do both jobs. If they come calling then Koeman will go but Hiddink has only been in charge for four games and will be given at least another four to turn it around which he probably will do. Once Hiddink goes, which will probably be after Euro 2016, then Koeman is the favourite to take over.

Maybe I still have the "glass half full" view- RoKo wanted to have a crack at EPL, he has got it, he said he was in for the long term, he has a long term contract. Obviously at some point he will move on- either to a bigger club or to manage his national team. I may be wrong on this one, but I believe that he will stay on and see his task completed. We have only got to look at the succession of poor managers that we have had for England- would Hodgson even be considered for a top club job now? If RoKo took the Netherlands job and it continued to go pear shaped, where would that leave him regarding his next big club job?

One of the best saints managers of all time, i hope so, but lets wait until at least Christmas before we start dreaming of winning the league eh?

Oh, dear! What with this and the rumours regarding Pelle's interest in going to Napoli, it does seem that we could be about to experience another deflating merry-go-round ride with instant stars departing for gloss and money. What will be interesting is to see whether our board makes a better PR job of dealing with this early stage set of symptoms of unrest than they did last summer. Perhaps we supporters should ask for a weekly statement of reassurance!
