All Four For Aguero
Sunday, 19th Oct 2014 10:22

City remained in the second position in the Premier League following a convincing 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur. Sergio Aguero scored all four goals in a exciting game that also saw an amazing four penalties. Aguero's four goals means the Argentina striker is now City’s top-scorer in the Premier League era, with 61 goals in 95 appearances.

Both sides pounced on mistakes to score inside the opening 15 minutes, with Aguero the beneficiary of some sloppy play from Lamela as City broke the deadlock.

Spurs hit back through Christian Eriksen just two minutes later after Fernando was dispossessed in midfield, only for Lamela to endure more frustration as he was penalized after Lampard went down in the box. Aguero stroked home his second from the spot.

Tottenham's ill discipline in their own box saw Kaboul then bring down David Silva.

But this time Aguero’s normal accuracy deserted him and Lloris was able to block, the striker’s acrobatic follow-up flying just wide.

Hart excelled to keep out efforts from Eriksen (twice) and Mason before a push by Demichelis on Soldado offered Tottenham a lifeline — snuffed out when Hart was equal to Soldado from 12 yards.

City were then awarded teir third penalty. This time Spurs league debutant Fazio was deemed to be in the wrong, pulling back his countryman Aguero off the ball and in front of goal to earn a red card.

This time Aguero made no mistake from the spot and he was still far from done, scoring a fourth as he chased down a long ball from Fernandinho and curled in another fine shot.

Spurs were already beaten as Toure came on for the final 14 minutes as Milner almost added to their woes with a curling shot that struck the post.

The only down side of the afternoon was the injury to Lampard. The veteran midfielder , who has impressed on a six-month loan spell from New York City FC having left Chelsea, was injured making tackle in the first half.

"Frank has a muscle injury," manager Manuel Pellegrini said. "We will see tomorrow after the scan but for the moment he will not travel to Russia.
