The Sun newspaper is reporting that Victor Wanyama is claiming Arsenal want to sign him, however the Kenyan soon put the record straight.

The Sun has never had a good reputation, not just amongst football fans but the population of this country in general, so when it claims something it can be taken with a pinch of salt.

Its latest claim is that Victor Wanyama has been saying that Arsenal are interested in him.

They are quoting him as saying.

"Wenger has been talking about me."

"He has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer."

"Arsenal are a great club and I’d love to play Champions League football, as I loved being on that stage with Celtic."

However, the Kenya international has has been quick to respond on Twitter this morning denying that he has said that.

"I have to make it clear that I have not said what as been brought up today, I am professional and will never say that.

"To cut the story short have never spoken to Wenger."

Whilst initially worrying for Saints supporters to read headlines as those that have been generated in the media on the back of this story, it is also an indication of just how far some sections of the press are willing to go to try and stir up something, so from that point of view although this summer will undoubtedly a busyone, perhaps all the rumours now are not as accurate as some would have you believe.
