Daniel Nardiello shunned a new deal with Barnsley to join QPR in 2007 but injuries plagued his time with Rangers

DOB - 22/10/82
Height - 5ft 11ins
Weight - 11st 4lbs
Contract - 2009

John Gregory and Gianni Paladini were so impressed with Nardiello's perfomance against us in the 2-0 defeat at Oakwell in January, that they followed his progress for six months and brought him to Loftus Road first chance they got. In the end though his first season at QPR turned out to be largely disappointing.

The 24 year old striker signed a two year deal after scoring nine goals for Barnsley last term, seven of which were in the last nine games in the crucial relegation run in.

Hopes were high that he could make a big impact at QPR but after just four starts and four sub appearances (and no goals) he fell down the pecking order following the change of manager and actually returned to his former club Barnsley on loan after Christmas. The return to Oakwell seemed to come as a relief to the player who struggled to settle in the south and a man of the match performance and goal in a win against West Brom looked to be just the start of a second successful spell in South Yorkshire. However he didn't score again, and made only ten starts, sitting on the bench as the Tykes roared through to an FA Cup semi final. At the end of the season Simon Davey rejected the chance to take him on permanently and he returned to Loftus Road.

Like Simon Walton, the appointment of Iain Dowie may prove to be a blessing for Danny as Dowie tried to sign him when he was the Coventry manager but that may be clutching at straws - in fairness his future in W12 looks bleak with neither club nor player keen to continue the relationship through the coming season.

Danny signed for Manchester United from Wolves in 1999 and made his debut against Arsenal in 2001. After failing to breakthrough to the first team, he went on to join Barnsley on loan during the 2003/04 season and scored seven goals in 16 appearances.

He returned to Oakwell the following season on a season long loan. But his season was interupted by injury. He scored seven goals in 30 appeatances that year before signing for the Tykes permantly following his release from Manchester United.

Nardiello made his full Welsh debut in May, coming on as a second half sub for John Toshack's men, in their international friendly draw with New Zealand. His time at QPR has been marred by injury and by the time January 2008 came round he was well out of the first team picture and being linked with a move away.
