Can Cook keep the Pompey troops happy?

Pompey boss Paul Cook admits it could be tough keeping his whole squad happy as players stake serious claims to be playing regularly.

The manager is likely with most if not all of the starters from the opening two league games - and wins - when he takes his side to Crawley on Tuesday night.

But already there will be members of the squad who faced and helped beat Derby who will be asking when they will get a game. So far, says Cook, the players have had just the right attitude, and he hopes that continues.

Looking ahead to Pompey's fourth game in 11 days, Cook told the club website: 'We’ve got some momentum at the minute, so it’s good to have another game because you know it could end at any time. here’s no reason why the supporters shouldn’t get excited, but my aim is to keep everyone grounded.

'My job is focusing on the long 46-game journey and at the moment we’re just looking at the next one. Mark (Yates) took over Crawley during a period of transition for the football club after their relegation last season.

'He’s a very knowledgeable manager and his teams are always fit and well organised, so we’ll be in for a difficult night, although it’s one we’re looking forward to. We’ve got to go there and try our best to win and we know we’ll be backed some fantastic support yet again.

'The hard part for me is keeping everyone happy because the lads have all been smashing and long may it continue.'
