Norwich Warn Off Saints
Tuesday, 18th Aug 2015 12:00

Norwich manager Alex Neil has warned off Southampton and several other potential suitors about trying to sign one of his prize assets.

In a story that seems to be more about the players agent letting club's know his client might be amiable to a move, Saints along with Liverpool and Newcastle are being quoted as three club's interested in signing Norwich City winger Nathan Redmond for bids in excess of £10 million.

Norwich boss Alex Neil is quoted as saying about the transfer gossip.

"Nathan is young and I just think 'why would he want to go anywhere else when he is playing games here?'" Neil told the Eastern Daily Press.

"If he gets to the stage where he needs to move on to further himself, then I am sure that will come, but at the present moment this is the best place for him.

"There is no reason for him to go anywhere else."

Wise words from the Norwich manager given that at 21 the winger has plenty of time to move to so called bigger clubs, he has started the season well at Carrow Road and scored his second goal of the season for the Canaries in Saturday's away win at Sunderland.

Neil is right, he will get game time at Norwich, something that he will not get anywhere near the same number of minutes at Liverpool or Saints & although Newcastle might offer a good chance, he is still better learning his trade at Carrow Road at present, something some of our former youngsters have found out when they left St Mary's.

How serious any link is with a Saints bid is open to arguement, however although we are looking for a winger we have a couple of key signings to make first, yes we have the money for Redmond and could launch a bid but even if we did the Canaries would be stupid to accept it.

How many times have we been linked to Redmond? The needle is stuck. Why would he come here if a top six side want him?
