Former Liverpool Star - Jonjo May Get A Place
Saturday, 22nd Aug 2015 06:46 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

Jonjo Shelvey is being heavily linked with a recall to the England side after some excellent form at the back end of last season and the front end of this and it is difficult to think that he could be ignored.

For a man who was under extreme pressure back in January he has made himself a vital part of the Swansea side in the past eight months and his vision in midfield is a key reason why the Swans are creating the chances that we are at the moment.

That has led many to speculate that he is set for a recall to the England team as they look to finish the work that they have started in qualifying for next summers European Championships.

Shelvey is in his third season now for the Swans having joined from Liverpool in the summer of 2013 and despite some problems at the front end of last season he has proven his worth to us and will be looking to do more damage this afternoon at Sunderland.

Someone who knows him well is Jamie Carragher who played with him at Liverpool but is now a Sky pundit.

Carragher told the Daily Mail: "Jonjo was someone who could overstep the mark from time to time in training at Liverpool but he can certainly play and the one thing I like about him is the fact he has confidence to try things.

"He will always look to get on the ball and keep pushing his team forward and he is feeling the benefit from playing every week at the Liberty Stadium. Swansea travel to Sunderland and another good performance might just seal his place in Hodgson’s plans for next month."
