All hail the Pie Tax Martyrs! Thursday, 3rd Dec 2015 15:32 by @markmonk The latest madness of Massimo part two. A fans group calling themselves SS5 have urged fans to stage a mass walkout during Saturday's clash with high-flying Hull City at Elland Road. Leeds fans have been urged to leave the game on 17 minutes and stay away for 17 minutes in protest over the club's decision to increase the ticket prices in the South Stand by £5, to include a voucher for food and drink. This has been called Massimo Cellino's "pie tax". A bitter-sweet irony given our beloved owners frequent appearances in Sardinian Courts accused of tax evasion. The 17th minute and 17 minute stay away is symbolic as superstitious Cellino notoriously hates the number 17. This is the latest in a line of fan protests against the madcap Italian's majority ownership of the club. Cellino is waiting to hear the outcome of an appeal whether or not he faces another ban after yet another tax-evasion verdict in Italy. In late October, he indicated that he was willing to sell the club to a fans group but backed-out having met them claiming six other-parties were interested. He has since done another U-Turn by claiming none of the six were serious bidders so he intends to stay in charge and maybe sell next year if and when our Championship survival is guaranteed. The "pie tax" story has gone global. Whether or not Cellino will witness the protests and inevitable Will the last one out of Elland Road please turn off the lights and make sure the pie-ovens are switched off as well.
