Liverpool To Adopt Unique Strategy To Stop Saints Scoring Against Them
Monday, 27th Jun 2016 09:31

When Liverpool sign Sadio Mane in the next couple of days, a strange pattern will emerge, you score for Saints at Anfield and they sign you.

Saints have their famous black box to assess transfer targets but Liverpool seem to have a different method, you score against them and they sign you ! At least that appears to be their plan in relation to Southampton Football Club.

If Sadio Mane moves to Anfield in the next few days as expected, then that will mean that the last three players to score at Anfield for Saints will have been signed by Liverpool th season after.

Now I know Liverpool have a terrible defence, but this is taking it to extremes, surely it would be better for them to just sign a better quality of defender rather than take this extreme tactic.

The run started with Dejan Lovren scoring the winner back in September 2013, a goal that did not endear him to the Kop when he arrived given that it effectively cost them the title that year.

In August 2014 it was Nathaniel Clyne who smashed in a goal on the season's opening day, although this would only be a consolation in a 2- defeat.

Then last October it was Mane's turn, a late late goal to earn Saints a point Liverpool however were impressed by his ability to do little for 90 minutes before appearing on the goal line to bundle the ball into the net from 4 inches.

Indeed Mane would score 4 out of the 5 goals Saints would score against Liverpool last season with Graziano Pelle being the other scorer.

This is a scoring record that has alerted Liverpool who are impressed that over a quarter of Mane's tally for the season was scored against them in just two games.

In what is now becoming a tradition Liverpool have headed to Southampton to make their summer signing and Mane now seems set to join the other two Anfield scorers on Merseyside, indeed even Pelle might be up there with them if he joins Everton.

Indeed if we score at Anfield next season and the scorer does that frequent but silly celebration of removing his shirt, someone might as well just hand him a Liverpool one to put on to save time when the transfer window opens.

With Saints not due at Anfield till 6th May, Jurgen Klopp has plenty of time to put a plan in place to stop Saints scoring, but if he can't manage that then put your money on whoever scores for Saints to be soon a Liverpool player.

Would suggest that if we have a player that we don't want, and we get a penalty on 90 minutes, we give the ball to that player and then say we want £50 million for them. (Sorry, it does seem to be "silly season")

Don't forget how they snatched Caulker off us as well after his 6 assists at SMS in The Cup. It took a while for the penny to drop and realise that they weren't assists but defensive c0ck ups!

We could stop this pattern by not selling to them...
As much as it's fun to have a dig at Liverpool, we are totally complicit with what's happening

Surely on this logic Pelle's head must now be heading north-west. And his value has surely gone up in the last couple of weeks.
