Leeds United - Garry Monk provides explanation for Rob Green's absence Thursday, 14th Jul 2016 13:39 by Lucas Monk Rob Green was one of the more high-profile absentees from Leeds United's 2-1 victory over Shelbourne at Tolka Park yesterday evening. The 36-year-old, who recently joined the Whites on a free transfer from divisional rivals QPR, did not feature yesterday as United claimed their first win of pre-season. Goals from Souleymane Doukara and new signing Hadi Sacko proved to be enough as Leeds defeated their Irish counterparts 2-1, and after the game Garry Monk explained the reasons for Green's absence. Speaking to leedsunited.com, Monk said: “I have a plan for every player in terms of pre-season — physically and things like that,” “Rob joined us a little bit later than the others and I just felt that he needed another week’s training to hopefully be ready for the game at the weekend.” Green, a player with 12 England caps to his name, could feature for Leeds for the first time on Saturday, as the Whites take on Shamrock Rovers at the Tallaght Stadium, in a 3PM kick-off.
