Leeds United: Whites reputedly in the market for Serie A forward
Monday, 5th Jun 2017 14:40 by Lucas Monk

Leeds United are, according to Ghana Soccer Net, among several clubs vying for the signature of Caleb Ekuban.

The Italian-born Ghanaian striker, is presently contracted to Chievo Verona of Italy's Serie A, though he most recently sported the colours of Albania's Partizani Tirana during a loan spell.

During previous loan spells with various teams competing within Italian football's lower echelons, goals had eluded the 23 year-old, but his season with Albania's capital club proved to be the most bounteous of his career to date. In 34 appearances, the forward netted 17 goals as Partizani finished 2nd in the Albanian Superliga while lifting the Albanian Cup.

United are purported to be possessed of an alacrity to bolster their attacking ranks, with Ekuban having been earmarked as a potentially shrewd acquisition at a reasonable cost.

Leeds are, however, not alone in pursuing the player's signature. APOEL Nicosia, a behemoth of the Cypriot game, are also said to hold an interest in the forward.

It is anticipated that Ekuban will converse with Chievo's management concerning his future in the coming days. His egress from the Flying Donkeys appears probable, with Riccardo Meggiorini, Roberto Inglese, and club stalwart Sergio Pellissier all ahead of him in the pecking order at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.
