Two more sign on loan
Two more sign on loan

With the queue for Andy Thorpe's physio room looking more like one of them snaked queues you get at Alton Towers for the decent rides, Rochdale have been forced into making two more loan signings to help field a team!

Rochdale have managed to add two players to the team in addition to Scott Taylor's arrival yesterday in what is quite easily the worst injury crisis I've ever known at the football club.

In a desperate bid to be able to field eleven professionals for tomorrow's game against Brentford, Keith Hill has signed Barnsley defender Rob Atkinson on loan for a month as well as managing to re-sign Oldham full back Kelvin Lomax for a further month's loan.

We know all about Kelvin Lomax who has played 6 games for us this season at right back and has proved to be a decent asset for us but what about Atkinson? Well, he's a 20 year old defneder who can play at either centre half or left back and is described as strong, hard working, good in the tackle and strong in the air, he's not overly slow either apparently. He's made 8 appearances for the Championship side and went on loan to Scarborough in 2005 when they were in what used to be the Conference and played 22 games for them without scoring. He went on loan to Halifax Town last season and scored 2 goals in 4 games. He will wear the number 26 shirt.

This injury crisis doesn't seem to be letting up. With Chris Dagnall, Gary Brown, Nathan Stanton, Nathan D'Laryea, Simon Ramsden, Lee Crooks and John Doolan already out injured, it came about this week that Rory McArdle was to miss the next two weeks after injuring himself while representing Northern Ireland under 21's. It's more like an episode of Casualty than a football club!
