Town out to nab Green?
Friday, 25th Aug 2017 10:44 by @markmonk

Rob Green could be handed a fast-track return to the Premier League with Huddersfield Town apparently keen to take him down the M62.

Despite an impressive debut season last time out, vereran Green has been edged out by Felix Wiedwald, he did start on Tuesday night against Newport County in the League Cup 2nd round.

Apparently Huddersfield want Green to make the short trip West to back up their Premier League ambitions.

It was touted that Green, 37, would be released to spare his reported £15,000 a week wages. However it was Marco Silvestre who moved back to his native Italy joining Hellas Verona, leaving the former West Ham man to battle it out with Wieldwald and youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The reality is, if there is any truth in this rumour, Leeds will surely have lined up another keeper to replace Green. The transfer-window shuts on Thursday next week and the so-called emergency loan window is now a thing of the past.

Meanwhile Leeds have apparently been told to cough up a whopping £10m for Middlesborough's Rudy Gestead. Let's hope we are looking elsewhere!
