Interview with a Rovers fan
Monday, 1st Oct 2018 19:00 by Col

Bristol Rovers are our next visitors to Spotland on Tuesday evening. So as usual, we've spoken to one of their supporters to find out everything Bristol Rovers.

1) Who are you and how long have you supported Bristol Rovers
My name is Chris Wathen and I’m a programme columnist for Bristol Rovers. I’ve been supporting them since the late 70’s, when my Dad used to take me to Eastville to watch them.

2) What's the early season feelings amongst the Rovers support about things so far?
It’s been a rocky start to the season so far, but a run of 2 games unbeaten (4 points) has settled nerves a bit.

3) Is Darrell Clarke still a popular man amongst the Rovers fans?
Darrell Clarke is still massively popular with fans , mainly due to his double promotion achievement, after we dropped out the League in 2014. His squad tinkering match to match does however divide supporter opinion.

4) There seems to have been talk forever about you getting a new ground. Is that still the plan?
The current owners took over in early 2016 and it was expected that the ground project would move forward. This hasn’t happened and the future of the club is subject to daily speculation amongst us fans.

5) What's been the best and worst you've seen in League One so far this season?
I’m sure that Rochdale fans will agree that Kenny Jackett has Portsmouth firing on all cylinders. Plymouth drew 0-0 at our ground last month and really looked like similar to us, a struggling team.

6) Are there likely to be many Rovers fans heading North next Tuesday?
With 2 away games in a row and a trip to Bradford last Saturday, I think many Rovers diehards will give this one a miss. We seem to playing each other regularly now too.

7) Who will be your biggest threat on Tuesday night?
If a fit Kyle Bennett or Alex Jakubiak are given a start, I think they’ll cause you problems.

8) Any thoughts on Dale?
I’m surprised that you’ve not started better, given the fright you had last season and the strong finish.

9) Name your all time Bristol Rovers side
My all time side is picked from players I’ve seen since 1976.
Martin Thomas (GK) , John Scales , Vaughan Jones, Andy Tillson, Stuart Taylor, David Williams, Ian Holloway, Jamie Cureton, Archie Stephens, Barry Hayles, Mickey Barrett,
Sub R Lambert

10) Any predictions for the game?
Have to go 0-0 sadly, on current form.
