Spurs 4-0 Rams - Quick report
Spurs 4-0 Rams - Quick report
Saturday, 18th Aug 2007 17:06

The Rams were thoroughly outplayed at White Hart Lane and looked like a poor Championship side.

Claude Davis had to be replaced by Dean Leacock due to an injury, while McEveley replaced Griffin and Earnshaw was back in the starting eleven.

Already after two minutes Spurs got their first goal. Very sloppy man marking on a free kick gave Malbranque the chance to hit a shot that curled into the corner.

Within another three minutes, Malbranque was at it again and made it 2-0 before Jenas scored the third before the first 15 minutes was over. All goals well taken by the Spurs, but very poor defending by the Derby defence.

Spurs continued to push on with Derby producing nothing at all but the score remained 3-0 at half time. The second half was more even although the Rams could only produce one real chance when Teale hit a shot at Robinson. Spurs got their fourth goal with ten minutes left to play; a scramble tapped in by Bent.

All in all, a match the Rams have to quickly forget. It also showed that more players are needed to be able to compete against the top teams in the league.
