![]() Thursday, 7th May 2026 12:16 Leeds are reportedly on the verge of signing Hidomasa Morita on a free transfer from Sporting CP. The tough-tackling midfield anchorman, aged 30 is reportedly on the verge of agreeing a two-year deal with the Whites with an option of a third-year. Morita is of course a Japan international along with Ao Tanaka. Whilst Tanaka's future isn't assured at Leeds due to lack of game time, it would surely ask questions re Ilia Gruevs future at Elland Road? The Bulgarian has struggled to break in to the United side in the EPL and will miss our run-in due to injury. Morita would further rival Gruev for a place in the starting line-up. Morira also represented Kawasaki Frontale and Santa Clara in the Portugese league. He has 29 league appearances for "Verde e Brancos" this season. He has been capped 40 times for his country.
