Holt to sign for Shrewsbury on Tuesday

Former Dale striker Grant Holt will make a return to League Two on Tuesday when he puts pen to paper on a £150,000 move to Shrewsbury Town, ending all speculation of a return to Spotland.

The Shrews put in an offer for the Cumbrian born striker last week which was accepted immediately by Notts Forest. There had been talk that Dale had also put an offer in, but those reports are unsubstantiated at time of writing.

Holt travelled down to Shropshire last Friday to discuss terms with Town, and having agreed terms, he became Paul Simpson's second Summer signing after the signature of Michael Jackson on Monday.

As part of the signing, Holt will be revealed to the media on Tuesday at a press conference, in which Shrewsbury will also announce stadium sponsors for their new ground which is expected to be known as the Pro-Star Stadium from now on.

Holt has had an up and down time since leaving Spotland. He made a spectacular start to life at the City Ground, finishing top scorer and named as player of the season in his first full season, but he soon fell out of favour with manager Colin Calderwood. A recent loan spell at Blackpool brought just twenty minutes of football in four appearances.
