When AVFTT first went on line in 2000, Steve McMahon was the Blackpool manager, the ground was being held together by a lick of paint, Morty's Bar was the place to be at half time, we'd just told Rickie Lambert he wasn't good enough and Karl Oyston was already eyeing up the 'Ormerod Money'! In those days we were part of Rivals.net, from 2007 we moved to fansonline.net and now welcome to fansnetwork.

Putting together the pieces Mon 4th Aug 2014 20:32
After a fraught and somewhat dismaying summer, it seems like a relief to be able to write an article about football, rather than club politics. We might not be in a pristine state of readiness (to put it mildly), but August will be a busy month that sees us play at least six games in two competitions. Hopefully it will also see us continue to see as steady stream of new arrivals to the club.
A downpour, a demo and a defeat Mon 4th Aug 2014 20:26
Whatever parade you wanted to see at Bloomfield Road on Saturday, it's fair to say the rain came down on it. From the 'Oyston' out' demo to the parade of new players (and equally trialists), the wet weather was hardly condusive with our one and only pre-season home game. Neither side can really claim credit for having attracted the most fans, although there was probably a bit of cross over from the curious anti-Oystonites.
Happy Days? Not at Bloomfield Road Mon 4th Aug 2014 20:19
So the Fonz is the fourth player to sign up for the Seasiders in two days. We're now on a dozen players, two thirds of the way to fielding a starting XI with subs. Albeit we're without a goalkeeper, have a centre half pairing of vintage and vanished, an untried left back and a released right back. From midfield pushing forward looks OK, but could still do with more additions and that's where we're at.
So who is going to sign for us? Mon 4th Aug 2014 19:57
The Karl Oyston philoshophy of signing players in the summer was quite simple. Wait until it was close to the start of the season, offer a pitiful contract, agree a one year deal with an option in our favour, tell them they had to wash their own kits and if they were lucky they got a week's stay at the Blackpool FC Hotel. It may well have worked in the past but even the most hard pressed player is giving it a miss this summer.
A victory but at what price Mon 4th Aug 2014 19:46
Rare that Blackpool have ever dominated the sports headlines as much as they are at present but for die hard Blackpool fans who are proud of this club's long and illustrious history, it may be as well to look away now. Sadly the headline makers have had a field day at the Seasiders expense and is it any wonder with the club lurching from one crisis to the next. On Saturday at Penrith, the farce was there for all to see.
Tony Quested on Blackpool FC's crisis Mon 4th Aug 2014 19:13
Tony Quested writes exclusively for AVFTT on current events at Bloomfield Road. It is important to explain at the outset of this blog that innuendo is not, as some uninformed folk may believe, a Mexican suppository. In the case of Blackpool FC, currently the longest running farce outside of Theatreland, innuendo is a festering canker that is helping to destroy the last lingering threads of the club's credibility.
We aren't even quirky anymore Mon 4th Aug 2014 19:10
A post by Adams_Kebab: It's got to the stage now where KO has even managed to strip the club of that attractive bit of quirkiness we had. In all honesty, most of us knew we were complete tinpot operation during our successful spell in order for the Oystons to cream as much dough as they could off the club, but throughout the past few years we did have that peculiar but cool feel about us.
And so it begins ... Mon 4th Aug 2014 19:06
One by one we've seen an exodus from Bloomfield road usually saved for when the fourth officials board goes up! By the time that Jose Riga had left Bloomfield Road with 3 points on the last day of the season, few would have expected that nearly two dozen players would have followed him out of the door and the Belgian would then return as manager! The problem is Jose now needs to replace the departed which finally has started today.

Match Report - Dale 1 Cheltenham 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
Dale snatched a equaliser late in the game, after falling behind to an excellent early Cheltenham goal. The match was typical of most Dale home games, with chances few and far between, and another home defeat looked on the cards.
Match Report - Blackpool 3 Dale 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
A miserable night for Dale as they crashed 3-1 to play off rivals Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. The misery was made worse when keeper Neil Edwards was sent off with just six minutes to go, which will rule him out of any play off involvement, should Dale manage to qualify.
Match Report - Dale 3 Exeter 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
At a sunny Spotland, Dale strolled to a very easy 3-0 victory against struggling Exeter City. The margin could have been far greater than it was, and had Dale took advantage of all their chances, another Carlisle may have been on the cards.
Match Report - Hull City 3 Dale 2 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
Clive Platt inspired a second half comeback for Dale which almost brought Dale a point, when such a reward was at one point looking well out of our reach. However, it was not to be and Dale extended their winless run to eleven games.
Match Report - Chesterfield 1 Dale 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
Dale came so close to recording a famous victory against league leaders Chesterfield who were a shadow of the team their league position suggests they are. But for the second away game on the trot, a last minute goal cost us all three points that we thoroughly deserved.
Match Report - Dale 6 Carlisle 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
A Paul Connor hat trick helped Dale romp to a six nil victory over relegation threatened Carlisle United, in a match where everything went right for Dale at home at long, long last. Connor now has six goals in six matches and is looking a snip at £150,000.
Match Report - Hartlepool 1 Dale 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
Dale were just minutes away from what would have been a famous and hard fought victory when Tony Lormor grabbed an 88th minute equaliser at the back post to make matters even. The good news is that Dale seemed to have turned the corner.
Match Report - Barnet 3 Dale 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
Dale crashed to a heavy defeat against a team that were heading for the Conference before kick off. It was 3-0 to Barnet and as the famous quote goes, we were lucky to get nil, as we never in the match at all, and three vital play off points went through our hands.
Match Report - Dale 0 Kidderminster 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
Usual story at Spotland, as the defensive visitors get the point that they came for, as Dale struggle to break down a defence that was always packed out with bodies. Dale failed to really threaten the Kidderminster goal either.
Match Report - Dale 3 Lincoln 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
Steve Parkin challenged the players in the programme to prove their worth tonight. They delivered the perfect response, with a hugely improved performance at Spotland. Goals from Platt, Connor and Monington secured a 3-1 win for Dale.
Match Report - Dale 1 Brighton 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
Dale needed a Lee Todd free kick very deep into injury time to rescue a point against promotion seeking Brighton. The goal gave Dale a share of the spoils when three points were really needed to re-ignite our play off challenge.
Match Report - Macclesfield 0 Dale 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 09:09
Dale failed to take advantage of their numerous chances and let 2 vital play off points slip through their fingers at a soaked Moss Rose this afternoon. Both teams had the chances to win the game, but Dale had the better of them and really should have left with all 3 points.
Match Report - Torquay 1 Dale 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
K. Hill grabbed the only goal of the game to seal all three points on Saturday. Unfortunately for Dale it was Torquay's Kevin and not our Keith who got the all important goal in what was a hugely disappointing match.
Match Report - Dale 0 Halifax 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
The Dale promotion bandwagon had an off day, as the local derby honours went to Halifax. It was not a good day to be a Dale fan, as Dale rarely had a serious effort to trouble the Halifax keeper, despite having the bulk of the possession
Match Report - Mansfield 1 Dale 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Dale fell victims to their own trick today as Mansfield produced a last minute winner to snatch a late win against Dale. The game should have been long over before then as Dale had enough chances including a saved penalty to win the game with ease.
Match Report - Southend 3 Dale 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Dale lost their fourth game in a trot down at Roots Hall where everything which could have gone wrong did. We lost the game, we had two more players go off injured and Neil Edwards was sent off and will face a suspension as a result. Things are not going our way at the moment.
Match Report - Lincoln 1 Dale 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Dale played out a third consecutive 1-1 Draw against Lincoln. Despite early chances, it took a rare Ellis header to get a point at a ground where we often get three. This leaves Dale 5th in the league.
Match Report - Dale 1 Shrewsbury 7 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
If it wasn't a crisis before kick off, then it is now. Dale were abysmal as they crashed 7-1 to a Shrewsbury side who were full value for their win. Questions must be asked about both the tactics and the team selection for this game, which contributed to the defeat.
Match Report - Dale 3 Leyton Orient 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Dale cruised into 4th place in the league with a surprisingly easy win against the team that was 4th at the start of the day. The SKY camera's came to Spotland for a second time and saw another convincing victory for the hosts.
Match Report - Leyton Orient 1 Dale 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Jinx? What jinx? For 75 minutes it looked like Dale might just do the impossible and pull off a win at Brisbane Road. However, ultimately it was not to be, as Orient grabbed a deserved late equaliser to leave both teams trailing in the division behind Cardiff in 3rd.
Match Report - Dale 1 Hull City 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Dale won a closely fought game with Yorkshire rivals Hull City in what was a game of very few chances for either side. It was never Champagne Football, but Dale did enough to win the game, and look mostly comfortable with it, after a deflected Gary Jones shot won it for Dale!
Match Report - Scunthorpe 0 Dale 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Dale battled to a very valuable point this evening, in what turned out to be very difficult circumstances. Both teams had chances to win the game, but in the end a point was about the fair result, and about all we could have hoped for given the dire officiating on show
Match Report - Cardiff 0 Dale 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
It's not often that when you turn up to a football match, the queues back up onto the motorway, some seven miles from the ground, but that is what happened tonight, with 12,000 fans turning up to watch this promotion encounter. Dale were superb and full value for their point
Match Report - Darlington 1 Dale 2 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Who says we can't win every away match? Controlled performances like this will lead to an away record which will more than surpass last year's efforts. A goal from full back Wayne Evans with just fifteen minutes to go saw Dale take all three points which was fully deserved.
Match Report - Cambridge 1 Dale 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Cheated! That was the way many Dale fans felt when they left the Abbey Stadium at the end of the match. Seconds after what appeared to be a perfectly good Plattini goal was disallowed, Cambridge won a game they did not deserve to through what can only be described as a fluke
Match Report - Doncaster 3 Dale 2 after extra time Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Last Saturday, Gary Jones was booked for over celebrating a goal. Tonight, the whole of Doncaster should have been locked up for the most over the top goal celebration of a goal ever seen, as they snatched a golden goal winner to a game which bordered on the comical at times.
Match Report - Dale 0 York 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Dale made it four games on the trot now without a goal as they slumped to a embarrassing 1-0 home defeat to bottom of the league York City in front of a crowd of less than 3000. The wheels are in real danger of coming off the promotion bandwagon
Match Report - Dale 1 Blackpool 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 08:08
Dale stole the honours of a closely fought derby match with Blackpool when midfielder Gary Jones headed home a Tony Ford cross with just ten minutes left in the game, when a goalless draw was looking to be on the cards.
Match Report - Dale 1 Blackburn 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Tony Ellis redeemed himself for Saturday's sending off by grabbing a last grasp goal to give Dale a very much deserved equaliser, in a hugely exciting match. This was the least that Dale deserved after a very impressive performance against the millionaire neighbours.
Match Report - Dale 0 Barnet 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
The conditions proved to be the winner, as both teams failed to really settle on a heavy going Spotland pitch this afternoon. Dale had the better of the chances, but the late goal failed to materialise when it was required.
Match Report - Exeter 0 Dale 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Clive Platt, doubtful before the game with a persistent foot problem knocks in a late winner to end the 37 year winless run at Exeter. This keeps Dale right in touch with the leaders at the top of the division, three points clear of Orient in 4th.
Match Report - Halifax 1 Dale 2 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Dale held on to record a 2:1 victory against Yorkshire rivals Halifax Town, despite producing the worst performance of the season so far in doing so. The winner came courtesy of a stunning Gary Jones shot, after Clive Platt had given Dale an early lead.
Match Report - Dale 1 Darlington 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
A second half penalty from debutant Simon Davies was enough to see Dale grab a share of the points. However, Dale had the visitors on the back foot for almost the entire match, and should have taken all three points.
Match Report - Dale 2 Macclesfield 2 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Dale produced their worst performance of the season tonight, but still found it in themselves to come from two goals down with time running out. A first goal by Christian Lee, and a deflected shot from former Macc man Paul Ware saw Dale rescue a late point.
Match Report - Dale 2 Torquay 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
If ever there was a game of two halves, then this was it. Dale were awesome in the first half, and the two nil lead with goals from Mono and Ellis(left) flattered the visitors who hadn't even had a shot.
Match Report - Cheltenham 0 Dale 2 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Dale go second as two goals from ace striker Mark Monington give us a second successive 2-0 win at Cheltenham. Results elsewhere give us a 2 point lead over third placed Brighton. Match report now online!
Match Report - Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Dale suffered a rare defeat against The Seagulls today . Early dominance ebbed away , another controversial ref for both sides , and despite a valiant second half , Albion kept their lead . Southern based Dale fan Dave Coupe reports.
Match Report - Blackburn 6 Dale 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Ever get the feeling you've been cheated? Well Dale came second in a seven goal thriller with referee Wille Burns giving Rovers three penalties after they took the lead through a hugely deflected goal.
Match Report - Dale 0 Southend 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
With Dale going into this match unbeaten at home, Southend United without a manager, and Southend fielding Dale's transfer target Martin Carruthers, there could only ever be one result from this game.
Match Report - York City 0 Dale 2 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
A return to first team action for Mark Monington helped Dale to an extremely comfortable 2:0 victory over york to send Dale into the top three for the first time in almost twelve months. It was a thoroughly deserved victory and should have been many more.
Match Report - Carlisle 1 Dale 2 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Dale snatched a last gasp victory at Carlisle, thanks to a free kick from Lee Todd. This makes it four wins in the last four visits to Brunton Park , and leaves Dale , in fourth position in the table.
Match Report - Kidderminster 0 Dale 0 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Dale could not take advantage of their early chances in a match that was far more open than the scoreline suggested. However, for many supporters the game was ruined by one of the most inept refereeing performances seen in years, which went against us at every opportunity.

Match Report - Dale 1 Cardiff 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
For much of the game, Dale were clearly second best to a well organised Cardiff side, and deservedly trailed. However, a spirited fightback in the last few minutes saw Dale equalise and almost snatch all three points in the dying seconds.
Match Report - Dale 2 Hartlepool 1 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Dale grabbed a much needed three points which sent them back into the automatic promotion places. It was a hard fought victory, which never looked in doubt up until half time, but a fine comeback by the visitors made it nervous stuff for a while.
Match Report - Dale 3 Scunthorpe 2 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Recent signing Paul Ware came off the bench today to seal a 3:2 win for Dale against a hard working Scunthorpe side. It was a great fight back by Dale after seeing Scunthorpe come back from a goal down to lead 2:1 just after half time.
Match Report - Shrewsbury 0 Dale 4 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Dale totally outclassed Shrewsbury from start to finish, as they scored four goals at Gay Meadow for the second season in succession. It was a very convincing victory, and the result and scoreline was thoroughly justified.
Match Report - Dale 2 Chesterfield 2 Sat 4th Aug 2007 07:07
Dale grabbed a late point with a well deserved equaliser in what was one of the best games seen at Spotland in recent years. Both sets of fans came away feeling that their team had done enough to win, but in the end, neither team deserved to lose.
