Whatever Happened To... Jamie Cade

Cade joined the U's on a free transfer from Middlesbrough in November 2003, after a short but impressive loan spell at league rivals Chesterfield. He didn't make the grade at Layer Road, failing to score in the 29 appearances he made over 18 months, leading to him being released at the end of the 2004-05 season.

Following his departure from the U's, he had brief spells on trial at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Darlington, before joining Crawley Town at the start of the 2005-06 season. By late November he was forced out of the first team after a change in management and went out on loan to Lewes in January 2006. He returned to Crawley in April and made one more first team appearance before the end of the season.

In the summer of 2006 he moved permanently to Lewes, and was part of the team which won the Conference South in 2007-08. After a short loan spell at Tonbridge Angels in February 2008, he then joined the Angels permanently on a two-year contract in the summer.

He left Tonbridge at the end of the 2009-10 season and joined Hastings United. After half a season he quit Hastings, having played 23 games scoring one goal, and immediately joined league rivals Horsham - coincidently his last game for Hastings was a defeat against Horsham who had three players sent off! He was top goalscorer with nine goals in 20 games at Horsham, but chose to leave at the end of the season when the manager left.

He rejoined Lewes at the beginning of this season, but left in November due to a lack of games and now plays for Crawley Down.

Away from football he is a mechanical services engineer, installing heating, air conditioning and plumbing.

Clubs since leaving the U's: Crawley Town, Lewes, Tonbridge Angels, Hastings United, Horsham, Crawley Down.
