Where there's Leeds...there is hope....

A personal view, is the takeover necessarily dead?

I was delighted to hear the LUST guy Gary Cooper call for Leeds UNITED tomorrow againgst Shrewsbury.

Events of the last 48 hours have provided the temptation to redraw the "Bates out!" banners and dust off the anti-Bates songbook in anticipation of the visit of Shrewsbury.

One rumour circulating t'net tonight is that Bates upped the ante with what I could crudely describe as a "sell on" clause, whereby any new owners who did get Leeds back into the Prem for 2012/13 would have to send him a "sweetner" in recognition of the summer squad building he has sanctioned of late...despite a fee being agreed to buy the club lock, stock and barrel two months ago.

So it is quite easy and understandable to go into ER for the taming of the Shrews thus demanding the head of Pappa Smurf served up on a silver platter in the East Stand upper, accompanied by seasonal vegetables and a berry jus with Norman Hunter or Paul Reaney to provide some pre-match anecdotes.

I praise Gary Cooper of LUST and his interview tonight on ItV Calender, we should step back and support our team.

We hope that Bates' days are numbered.

What will not work is the return of the edgy, often vile atmosphere inside ER last season which I believe contributied to the worst home record in the history of our great club.

I think Eddie Gray summed it up perfectly, albeit on Bates' owned Yorkshire radio with his eternal diplomacy when he correctly pointed out that if everybody was going to the game wound up by Bates, then it would effect the performance of the players. I believe it did and like any years ago when I would see foaming mouthed, piggy eyed beer monsters roll up more intent singing anti-Man u songs than pro-Leeds ones (even when Man U were not the opposition) we need to be pro-Leeds.

Starting from tomorrow, let us be pro-Leeds rather than anti-Bates. Let's concentrate what is happening on the park and let the lawyers and accountants deal with what is happening off the park!
