Happy Birthday Planet Swans

Planet Swans celebrates it's first birthday today - thank you to all who have helped build the site from scratch

It was December 4 2007 when Rivals elected to change the format on jackarmy from what was something extremely popular to something which resembled a Kenny Jackett line up - it had no recognisable format and was not pleasant to watch.

We quickly jumped ship and spent five days on proboards before Planet Swans was born officially on December 9 2007.

And since that date there has been pretty much no looking back.   A few tweaks and changes here and there, some SQL errors that had to be quickly eradicated and we now sit on one of the most reliable servers that you can get.

During the twelve months of Planet Swans over 2.1 million visits have been recorded, almost 21 million page views have been loaded - far more than jackarmy was ever capable of pulling in.

It has been an eventful first twelve months from the defeat at Havant that led to a record 449 people being on the site at one time, through the Leeds massive invasion around the time the Swans secured the League One title on seventeen separate occasions right up to the two derby days of this season there is always an active thread on the forum to be read.

Over 322,000 posts have been made in the first twelve months of the site at the rate of almost 900 per day whilst over 2300 people have joined with around 6 people per day signing up to take part in the debates/discussions.

Of course it has had it's critics but the ethics that were in place on day one still remain - to provide an active forum for football supporters to discuss a whole range of topics together with a facility to keep visitors up to date with all the news regarding the Swans.

Planet Swans has had a twelve months beyond anyone's expectations as the statistics above prove.   From my point of view I would like to thank Mike for his design work, Jim for allowing us to use his servers and sponsorship of the site together with all the moderators who take some stick at times but do a difficult job and of course the latest addition to the writing team in Lisa.   But also those 2300 people who have signed up to be part of the site and contribute to the leading Swans site.

Happy Birthday Planet Swans and here's to many more.
