Pompey duo still have some improving to do

Ryan Taylor says his Pompey partnership with Jake Jervis is a work in progress.

Both men have started scoring regularly since being paired up by Richie Barker last month but Taylor - whose header beat Wimbledon at the weekend - says they can still get better as a duo.

It's a measure of their success so far that they have been keeping Patrick Agyemang (pictured) on the bench.

Provided Taylor recovers from the minor injury that cut short his appearance against the Dons, he and Jervis will start at Scunthorpe on Saturday as the Blues look for rare back-to-back wins.

Taylor told The News: ‘It’s six goals between me and Jake, which is not a bad start. But it’s early days yet so we still have some more gelling to do and working on stuff in training every day.

‘Hopefully it will start to pay off on the pitch. As a striker you have got to work hard and me and Jake both try to do that. If we can keep doing it, hopefully we can get on the scoresheet a bit more.’

Can Pompey win at Scunthorpe - or would a point be an acceptable return?
