Vote Now For The Player Of The Season

The club have opened the voting for the player of the season for 2013/14 read on for details of how to submit your nomination and who the challengers might be.

I have to be honest here I cant see the voting going to any other player than Adam Lallana, this has truly been his season, he has gone from the start of the season being seen as one of the best Saints players but a real outsider to even get an England cap, let alone go to Brazil to being not only the truly pivotal figure in the Saints team but now not only guaranteed of going to the World Cup but being seen by most pundits as a first choice in the starting line up.

That England cap seemed to transform Adam and his form gets better with every game, there is little happening going forward that doesnt include him and if Mauricio Pochettino can claim credit for one thing it would have to be how he has built his formation around Adam, played to his strengths and made sure that others cover his weakness's.

last season Adam was brilliant going forward, but being used in a wide role with tracking back amongst his duties, too often he was caught upfield and we would often get exposed on the break, now the tactics allow for Adam to have a free'er role and he is covered so he does not need to get back so much.

So the real question in this year's poll is who finishes second, for my mind that would be Jay Rodriguez, this is not a sympathy vote here, at the start of the season Jay like Adam had some question marks about his game, indeed with the arrival of Osvaldo there were doubts that he would get a place in the starting line, he just quietly got on with things, he put in the work rate and showed he could score all types of goals as well as create them, in the past couple of months with an England place up for grabs he like Adam Lallana has stepped up to the plate and with every game he was getting better and in my mind due to his versatility he would have gone to Brazil, in any other year Jay Rod would have perhaps got player of the year, sadly for him although he has been exceptional, Adam had been "Very" exceptional.

In my opinion Jack Cork should get a mention, last season he was runner up, yet this term found himself out in the cold and barely playing after the arrival of Wanyama, when the Kenyan got injured though he stepped back in the side and again took up where he left off with a series of quality displays and hard work which drive the team forward, sadly it seems the manager cant seem to find a place in the side for them both which is a pity.

Earlier in the season I would have had Dejan Lovren as a definate for Player Of The Year in the first half of the season he was magnificent, in the second though less so, possibly due to a series of injuries some serious and others niggling, this has meant that although his form has been good, it hasnt quite been up to his first half of the season displays, if it had i think he would have given Adam a run for his money.

It is probably a sign of the team work ethic that in a season like this there arent a plethora of candidates, its hard to point ot a player who hasnt had a decent season from the 14/15 core that the manager has selected from, all have played a part, even Osvaldo, but I think that Adam will walk it.
