After failing to win a contract at Darlington, former Dale winger Ben Muirhead has found himself a new club by signing for Blue Square North side Alfreton Town.

Yes, our reaction was exactly the same as every other Dale fan's reaction would be. "Are Alfreton in the Championship then?"

Just a couple of weeks after leaving Dale with high aspirations about where his next port of call would be, he's had to make do with Alfreton Town where he'll be playing for former Chesterfield manager Nicky Law alongside Leo Fortune West and Paul Ellender amongst others.

He made his debut for them as an 85th minute substitute on Saturday, and it was his corner deep into stoppage time that provided the winner for Nicky Law's men.
