Minute's applause for Ernie

A minute's applause will be held before Tuesday evening's Carling Cup clash between Dale and Oldham Athletic in honour of Ernie Cooksey, who served both clubs.

The game has been spoke about for some time as the ideal time to offer tribute to Cooksey who passed away in the Summer at the age of just 28.

Cooksey played 100 games for Dale between 2004 and 2007, having joined from Oldham where he made around forty appearances for the Latics, and despite relatively short periods with both clubs, he most certainly left his mark on the supporters of both sides.

A similar tribute was held at Boundary Park before Oldham's game with Millwall at the weekend. The Carling Cup game kicks off at 7:45pm and it's widely expected that Oldham will fill the Willbutts Lane stand.
