We take a look at the official in charge of our trip to Hillsboro on Tuesday evening - Chris Sarginson from Staffordshire.

At Hillsborough on Tuesday we will meet second year referee Chris Sarginson for the third time since he joined the league list.

Last season he was in charge of our 1-1 draw at Lincoln and the 1-0 win at Macclesfield, games in which he upset the home fans while making Dale supporters chuckle loudly.

At Sincil Bank he sent home manager Peter Jackson to the stands for over-zealous protests.

Yes, we know that is hard to believe, but Jacko was waving his arms about like a madman and Mr Sarginson was having none of it.

At Macclesfield he awarded Dale a dubious penalty, from which they won the game, and then had to listen to the warbling of Keith Alexander as he left the field at half-time.

Later, of course, good old Keith ‘bit’ at the taunts from Dale fans, which made it a great afternoon out.

Last season Chris refereed 28 games, showing 91 yellow cards and eight red, all of those matches involved clubs in the bottom two divisions.

Therefore, Tuesday night at Hillsborough will be his first game at a ground of that magnitude as a referee, although he did serve as a linesman in the Premier League for several seasons before gaining promotion.
