Nugent Leads From The Front

Well, I'm delighted with the way we played tonight. I think everyone else there will be too

Probably in the region of about 300 Jacks there tonight maybe a little more. Sounded like more but the rest of the ground was sparse.

Swans players celebrate their opening goal

Brilliant view on the halfway line and the whole of the stand allocated to Swans fans. The shape of things to come next year as it was 15 squid to get in.

I couldn't fault any of the players tonight. Gueret did exactly the same as Saturday and took the ball out of the area with ball in hand. But, he was dominant in the box and made some great saves and his punching was excellent. I was impressed.

The back four were quite solid, Austin's first half display was second to none. O'Leary seemed to relish his midfield position and had a great game. Even Leon played off him better than Saturday enjoying a more central role. Forbes looked hungry on the right and provided the pin point cross for Nugents goal and Robinson caused plenty of problems on the left as usual. Nugent and Connor were a handful up front. Monk and Tate look a good solid pairing and Izzy may have to fight for the right. The first half we gave 100% and all credit there. Rochdale were a little unlucky to lose 2 key players early on.

It was the sort of game you just knew we were going to win. Second half we were second best for the first 10 minutes, defending but defending well. The socond goal came at the end of a period of pressure. Robinsons shot from the left hit the inside of the near post like a bullet and nearly took Edwards' head off on the way in. The celebrations said it all. There was a mass pile up of Swansea players celebrating and you could see the team spirit is at it's best. There was no way back for the Dale and if we had taken our chances in the first half the score could easily have been 4 or 5.

I would give everyone at least an 8 but a couple of 9's to Monk and Tate. and an 8.5 to Austin and O'Leary.
