Leon Britton is ready to come face to face with Barnsley tonight for the first time since the Millennium Stadium

The Swansea City midfielder returns from a one match suspension earned for his red card against Cardiff and admits that he wants to get one over on Barnsley to push away the memories of that penalty defeat.

Speaking in the Western Mail, Britton said “That play-off was one of the worst moments of my career.

“We were just a couple of kicks away from the Championship and lost – it was a horrible day to be involved in.

“But we’re much better placed for this division than we would have been a couple of years ago. And the biggest difference has been the impact Roberto has had.

“He’s changed the whole philosophy of the club and we’ve moved on tremendously because of that.

“It’s strange – we’ve had three draws, but haven’t fallen away massively from the play-offs.

“We’re still there and we’ve got to look at these two home games against Barnsley and Sheffield United as a chance to pick up a couple of wins.”

Roberto though was focusing on the league challenge rather than worrying about what happened in the past when he said

“Obviously it was a huge disappointment and it was difficult to take,” he said.

“But we’ve learned a lot and we’re in a different situation.

“We’ll keep that game at the Millennium Stadium as part of our history, but it shouldn’t affect our present and our future.

“The reality is that Barnsley are a side who have been getting results when nobody has expected them to.

“They have talented individuals and can surprise anyone, and that makes them very dangerous.”
