Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen has admitted that Saturday is a day that he wants to forget, as he picked up a injury.

Swansea were stunned by two quick goals from the Foxes, but it was the injury to the Carmarthen born player that in part turned the game in the hosts favour. Allen is due to undergo scans today to determine the severity of the injury. It could see the 19 year old miss the rest of this month, including visits of Middlesbrough and Reading and the crunch welsh U-21's European 2011 qualifier against Italy at the Liberty Stadium on the 4th September and Hungary this coming Wednesday at the Racecourse.

Showing good form going into the season, it has been nothing short of a disastrous start to the season for the midfielder as he revealed to the WM, he said, “This is the last thing I wanted to happen. There's been a lot of talk and this was the first season I really wanted to start from day one.

“Having made the team, obviously this was a bit of a disastrous start for me personally. Then we lost the game as well so it was a very disappointing day. It's come at a really bad time for me. This is the last thing you need in the first game of the season, to be honest. It's a day I want to forget as soon as possible.”

Pulling up sharply just 25 minutes into the the new season at the Walkers Stadium, Allen has suffered a recurrence of a hamstring problem,” I pulled up pretty sharply with a recurrence of a hamstring problem I had a few weeks ago. It's a little bit worse this time so I’ll have to see how long I’m out for. We just have to make sure it is right this time before I come back.

“It’s important we take our time because everyone knows hamstrings can be problematic if they are not completely sorted.” Counting his blessings that the injury was not as severe, the midfielder is confident that he will be back soon , “But there are worse injuries I could pick up so I have to be thankful for that. I'm confident I will be back soon.”
