85,000 More Reasons For The Rams To Hate Forest!
85,000 More Reasons For The Rams To Hate Forest!
Tuesday, 8th Apr 2014 13:54 by Daniel J Sewart

Just when you thought we didn’t have enough reasons to despise Forest with a passion — like a polished script from a classic farce — the club we love to hate has given us 85,000 more reasons to do so.

This new vein of disgust has been tapped beacuse of a ticket dispute relating to the clubs most recent local derby at the iPro.

Normally it is a standard practice that Championship clubs reconcile funds from the tickets sold to their supporters for away trips, with all funds to be paid within a week of the matches’ completion.

Unfortunately it seems, in their quest for perfection in incompetence, Forest has not paid the monies owed to DCFC which has been reported to be in the vicinity of £85,000.

The DET have reported that Forest allegedly missed a seven-day deadline to repay the outstanding amount last week and have been “un-cooperative” on the matter.

The article also went on to suggest that Derby has written the Football League demanding action be taken to resolve the matter.

The Nottingham Post went further in their report and related the current matter to another recent situation:

Early in the year Forest escaped a court appearance after resolving an issue with Impact Sports Management Limited, a football agency, who had issued a winding-up petition over an unpaid debt.

It is understood that Le Bistro, a subsidiary of stadium caterers Elior, has also issued a winding up petition recently, with a court date set for May 12.

Although the Post is informed that the money involved in this case is closer to £200k than the £9m reported in a national newspaper.

The Nottingham Post also carried a quote from a club spokesman who stated:

“The club are going through a period of reconciliation with their accounts,” he said. “Once the accounts are all finalised, all outstanding monies will be paid.”

I am but a humble writer for a fan website, but correct me if I am wrong in thinking, that if you were not going to pay a bill, would you avoid choosing one owed to your greatest rival?

Especially if by doing so, would be bound to attract a large amount of media attention and continue to put doubt in your supporters minds as to what is happening at their seemingly, out of control, out of the play-offs, club?

Perhaps it was just a case of assuming that after giving us 5 goals and arguably one of the greatest wins Derby’s history — it should in fact be The Rams paying them the money for entertainment that was worth far more than the price of admission to home fans!

Whatever the reasons behind not forking out for the seats sold, it is just more salt in the wounds for our beloved neighbours and another way for us to delight in this new comedy series that may end up producing more hilarious sequels than Police Academy (Billy would make a perfect Captain Harris... move it, move it, moooveee iiittt!!).

One could nearly start to feel sorry for them…. but only if we didn’t enjoy kicking them when they’re down… so damn much!!
