Blackburn v Blackpool Preview
Friday, 20th Feb 2015 13:28 by Editor

Invariably journalists call this one a 'Lancashire Hot Pot' but truth be know this one is a bit more like 'Betty's Hot Pot'. No longer in demand but fondly remembered. After years of these two sides not playing each other, games at Ewood Park have always been fiercely contested and quite often were pivotal to the two sides fortunes. Whilst Blackpool would love to earn their first win on the road, the three points now would be welcome but not especially crucial. However, on the other side, another defeat away from home could further maroon the Seasiders at the foot of the table.

Injuries and suspensions have once again beset Blackpool. Darren O'Dea and midfielder Andrea Orlandi (thigh) have definitely been ruled out. Tom Aldred serves a one-game ban for his red card picked up in that contest while Niall Maher limped out of training on Thursday, a session which Nyron Nosworthy missed through illness.
One defender due back is Grant Hall who could partner Peter Clarke in defence.

Ben Marshall is not yet ready to return for Blackburn, who host bottom-of-the-table Blackpool at Ewood Park. The Rovers midfielder missed the 1-1 draw with Cardiff in midweek because of a shoulder injury and he is not slated to return to training until next week. Jason Lowe may not feature again this season after discovering he needs an operation on a foot problem while this fixture comes too soon for veteran midfielder David Dunn (calf). Corry Evans should feature despite going off against the Bluebirds with a knock as Blackburn bid to post their fifth successive home triumph in all competitions.

It's been a while since the 'Pool took 3 points off their Lancashire neighbours on the road - it could well be more pride than anything that Lee Clark's side pick up as they go in search of that first away win under the manager.
