Saints look set to welcome back three players from injury on Sunday, however they will still be missing two key players.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed that he will have Shane Long, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matt Targett all back in his squad for the visit of Liverpool on Sunday, the trio have trained with the first team squad all week and are set to be involved in the game in some sort of capacity

It could not come soon enough for Koeman who has spent most of the last ten weeks with a sizeable chunk of his squad unavailable due to injury or suspension and now at least he has more than just a couple of options on the bench to keep his tactics flexible.

perhaps the most welcome back will be Long, Saints have missed his all action style of play in recent weeks and his quick pace over short distances will come in useful against a Liverpool who do not like to be hassled and crack under pressure.

But sadly there will still be two key players missing from the squad, the game has come a little too soon for Toby Alderweireld and although Koeman confirmed he is nearing fitness he stated that he is not ready for Sunday, or is he ? personally I wouldnt put it past the Dutchman to be playing a few mind games here.

Definitely out though is Ryan Bertrand who serves the last of his three match ban for being sent off in the final minute of the game against Swansea City.

Although we are still sound defensively without him his presence just seems to offer the team the ability to press forward more. Not from him personally getting forward but allowing others around him to play knowing he will cover then if they attack. Surprised that RoKo didn't appeal Bertrands red card as he said he would and while it was a rash challenge I've seen worse just get a booking. Still good to have Targget back so expect Yoshida will revert to centre back and Gardos drop to the bench.
