Magilton suspended, Gallen and Bircham in temporary charge - breaking news

Jim Magilton has been suspended by the club pending an investigation into incidents in the dressing room after Monday night's defeat at Watford.

The news of Magilton’s departure comes just two days after the team lost 3-1 at Watford live on Sky. After the match the players remained in the dressing room for some time, except for midfielder Akos Buzsaky. The Hungarian had been a second half substitute at Vicarage Road but spent 45 minutes after the match waiting in the empty stands and toilet blocks still in his full kit after what Magilton described later as “a difference of opinion” led to him being banished from the post match debrief.

The Daily Mail reports today that the “difference of opinion” consisted of Magilton aiming a headbutt at Buzsaky with whom he has already had a public run in this season after the Accrington cup match. The paper says that the pair had to be separated by striker Patrick Agyemang who was then threatened by the manager himself. Akos Buzsaky’s representatives have been in touch with the club this week amid rumours that the midfielder is set to request a move away from Loftus Road after two years with the club.

LFW understands that Magilton will be suspended from his position shortly ‘pending an investigation’ but is unlikely to be in charge of QPR again.

1201 UPDATE The club has confirmed to subscribers of its official text messaging service that Magilton has indeed been suspended with immediate affect pending an internal investigation.

1220: An official statement from the club reads: "The club can confirm that manager Jim Magilton has been suspended with immediate affect pending an internal investigation. The suspension relates to an incident which occurred at Monday's Championship fixture against Watford at Vicarage Road. The club will be making no further comment at this stage."

1245: Sky Sports News reports that assistant manager John Gorman and reserve team manager Keith Ryan will also be staying away from the club "until Magilton is reinstated." Gorman has told reporters that stories of an assault on Akos Buzsaky are untrue. The players are at the Harlington training ground today for a meeting with senior club officials.

1343 Club issues further statement categorically denying reports that midfielder Akos Buzsaky has requested a transfer.

1400 "It is not true at all. I am entirely focused on our next fixture against West Bromwich Albion on Monday night. We are in a strong position just three points outside the play-off's and as professional footballers our sole aim is to focus on the upcoming matches." - Akos Buzsaky on club's official website.

1405 Sky Sports report that the players will meet with senior club officials at 6pm tonight. Akos Buzsaky tells reporter at Harlington training ground that he feels Jim Magilton unfairly singled him out for criticism in recent weeks.

1458 The club announces that youth team coaches Marc Bircham and Steve Gallen will be in charge for Monday's game at West Brom.

1507 “While passions can run high in football, especially after a poor performance, I categorically deny any allegation of wrong-doing following Monday’s fixture. I understand that the club has initiated an internal investigation, with which I will cooperate fully. This is an unfortunate situation and I look forward to resuming my responsibilities shortly.” - Jim Magilton statement via League Managers' Association.

1548 The Ealing Gazette reports that Steve Coppell and Alan Curbishley are the early front runners for the manager's position, while also saying the club had hoped an apology from Magilton to Buzsaky could have staved off the need to suspend the gaffer.

"It was a right barney in there. This sort of thing happens from time to time at a club – but this is the second time in three matches – with the first at Doncaster a couple of weeks back. After a bit, it loses its effect." - Senior player, quoted in Ealing Gazette.

2100 Acting manager Steve Gallen tells BBC Radio Five Live that he considered leaving the club today too along with John Gorman and Keith Ryan.

"The truth is I have been an QPR a long time as a coach. I was there as a player, but I've been there 13 seasons. I've been there a long time. im Magilton, I like him a lot. The manager and John Gorman have been brilliant to me and Keith Ryan is a personal friend of mine. It was in my mind (to leave) but I work for QPR and I will support QPR. I want to do well." - Steve Gallen.

We will endeavour to update LFW regularly throughout today as the story develops so keep hitting refresh.
