£45,000 Magnus Fee Set By Tribunal Monday, 10th Aug 2009 18:08 A tribunal has today decided the compensation fee that the U's are to pay Dagenham & Redbridge for defender Magnus Okuonghae. The 23-year-old signed for the U's over the summer after his contract had expired at Dagenham, and under the terms of the ‘Bosman ruling’ this meant that the U's had to pay a fee to the Daggers because Magnus was under 24.
After the two clubs failed to agree a fee, a Professional Football Compensation Committee decided that the U's are to pay the East London club £45,000, rising to £80,000 based on appearances (£5,000 after 15, 30, 45 and 60 appearances) and if the U's gain promotion in the next two years (£15,000).
United are also to pay the Daggers 20% of any profit they make from a future sale of Magnus. Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
