Five Star Hamshaw
Five Star Hamshaw

Gary Simpson gave Matthew Hamshaw a chance to gain a contract at the Moss Rose last night and boy did he do himself no harm.  Two goals and a decent performance should see him given another chance on Saturday.

I wouldn't be surprised if Simpson gets his contract signed before then.

Hamshaw began his career at Sheffield Wednesday back in 1998 where he stayed for seven seasons making 74 appearances whilst scoring 2 goals.

He moved to Edgeley Park in 2005 where Stockport County had a terrible season in League 2 including a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Macc.

After a fall out with Jim Gannon, in 2006 he signed for Mansfield Town and was a crowd favourite.

2008 saw him move to Notts County where he stayed two seasons before being released in May of this year.

Matt has scored at the Moss Rose just once whilst playing for Notts County in 2009.

Hamshaw actually did alright at Edgeley Park during 'that' season, he was one of the bright sparks in the first half of the season. His face just didn't fit as soon as Jim Gannon took over although his career path after he left us (Mansfield and Notts County) suggests Jim made the right decision as he's not exactly gone on to bigger and better things.
