Former City attacker and legend Rodney Marsh has accused striker Wayne Rooney of diving for rivals United against Bayern Munich. Rooney took a tumble in the closing stages of the 1-1 Champions League quarter-final, first leg draw at Old Trafford, after a challenge from midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Schweinsteiger was sent off as a result, having already been booked earlier in the contest, meaning he will be suspended for the return tie at the Allianz Arena next Wednesday. Furious Bayern players confronted Rooney claiming he exaggerated the impact of the tackle when he hit the ground.
Marsh, who played for City between 1972 and 1976, mocked the player for what he perceived to be a dramatic fall to the turf on Twitter.
