Former Dale boss Paul Simpson has been offered the vacant manager's position at Gigg Lane, but has turned the job offer down preferring to wait for a higher placed League club.
Sky Sports News have been running with the story since Sunday afternoon, that Simmo was the man selected by the Shakers to revive their fortunes following the dismissal of Chris Casper.
But Paul Simpson, who has been out of work since losing his job at Preston earlier this season, has rejected the offer to manage at Gigg Lane.
It is believed that Simpson would rather work at Championship level rather than dropping back down to League Two at the stage of his managerial career.
