Saints CAN Put It Right Against Blackpool
Saints CAN Put It Right Against Blackpool

Saints go into Saturday's game looking to put the hiccups of the last fortnight behind them.

Every team will have a blip in their season no matter how well they are playing and Saints have just had theirs, or at least we hope so, the post mortems for the defeats at Doncaster & Bristol City have to be put behind us and we have to move on to the next game and look to learn our lessons and kick on.

It all goes back to the two points per game average and as i have often said this is the statistic that matters, if we average two points in our last 26 games then we finish on 94 points and that should guarantee us automatic promotion. Over our last six games we have done just that 12 points from those  games is par for our course, however nothing less than another win at home on Saturday is acceptable.

So its time to get focused and get the show back on the road at home we are a different team and we need to get this win under our belts to prepare us for a great chance to improve our away record at Pompey the week after.

Blackpool wont be a pushover, over their last six games they have attained 11 points themselves and lost only 1 game whilst doing it, however like us their standing in 7th is mainly due to their home record, on the road they are worse than us winning two, drawing four and losing another four, so they are there for the taking.

If we have learned the lessons from the last three games then we should be up and raring to go for this one and put more pressure on the chasing pack.

A realistic balanced analysis for once. Possibly the most important game of the season so far. If we win we can put the past few results behind us. If we lose there is the risk of a crisis of confidence developing. In any event let's get behind the team and cut out the constant carping and fault-finding. COYR!

I get behind the team where it matters at the games, on here i dont try to pick faults but look at the areas we need strengthening in not just now and in January but as the premier hopefully approaches

Nick I appreciate that your job is to present a more realistic picture than the official website, but I think sometimes the indivdual player criticism is a touch unfair. For example with Harding you're obviously not a fan. Personally I am, although I have recently accepted Fox is a more effective player in that position. This is not because I find anything wrong with Harding's game per se, but because I think Fox just offers more. I also happen to think that Hooiveld is better than the other options we've played in that position this season in Seabourne and Martin. He's very good in the air and is adpating to our passing style. Until I see someone better I think we have the foundation for a decent defence.

I really hope we get the show back on the road against Blackpool. I don't want to see us rely on our home record. I struggle to understand why we can't take this form on the road. Cardiff are starting to become a concern as they look like consistent performers.

We have followed all of our defeats this season with a home win.
We must do it again.
Really concerned about this fixture.
I honestly think our season depends on it.

I don't think the season depends on this game. But it will be a psychological blow if we lose with other teams picking up form..so there is extra pressure (forget the record). But that's what its all about and I believe we have the players to handle it.
I just hope we produce enough quality and win to get the confidence flowing, not stutter to a win or draw or defeat.
Question is who will we start with after NA's tactical changes last week? I know it was away but our form needs to be addressed H & A.
From what you have seen, those of you who have been to the last 3 games, who would you start in midfield or more to the point which central midfielder will make way?
Do you think Barnard will start?

Good question Tiptop. Seen 2/3 games and have been really unimpressed. Even Cork and Lallana haven't shone. The Chaplow loss is huge and we miss that extra dynamic he gives us. I couldn't honestly pick our best four at the moment in his absence. It's hardly all doom and gloom, but there's no denying we're having a bit of a wobble at the moment. Needs to be addressed quickly as there are a number of games before the window opens and we can strengthen. The front two are also an issue, particularly in SRL's absence. We don't have a match fit out and out striker. Do we?

My mistake, we have Guly.

Gully doesnt sound like he can do it on his own up there.
Without a natural target in RL to play through we need more presence up front.
The flicks of Gully might be complimented by the industry of Barnard.
Then maybe Lallana/Morgan/Cork/De Ridder (Is Holmes right sided?)

..Or Barnard up front with Adam in a free role behind.
Bring Lallana off the wing and get him he ball. That could get the rest of the midfield ticking again because lets face it when they do they're very good.
Guly back in right midfield, Harding or Fox on the left (who else could play out there in this scenario apart from Hammond) and Cork/Schniedelin.
Maybe a bit radical!
